Downton Abbey New York Premiere Event

Downton Abbey

I am sure you are wondering and asking yourself, "Bunny, why do you have a photo of the cast of Downton Abbey and some of the photos are circle?" Well, I have been holding this secret close for a week and now I get to share it!

I won two tickets to attend the Downton Abbey New York Premiere Event for Season Three! I know! I couldn't believe it when I won! Thirty tickets were given out to Facebook fans and my friend Lucy Anne Riggs told me about it and all I had to do was send them an email with my information. Oh my, can we say lucky?

The faces circled are those in the cast that were planning to be there for the event, unfortunately Elizabeth McGovern (Lady Cora Grantham) and Brendan Coyle (John Bates) didn't make it. I wish they mentioned to us why but I guess it is bad business to do so. Irregardless, the cast that was there was; Hugh Bonneville (Lord Robert Grantham), Rob James-Collier (Thomas Barrow), Sophie McShera (Daisy Mason), Joanne Froggatt (Anna Bates), and Jim Carter (Charles Carson).

I took a good friend of mine with me and we went to the Marriot Essex House which was stunning inside! After Saturday's adventures in the city I was feeling a little blah about Manhattan but last night reminded me that the city in small doses is a very good thing indeed.

I am unsure if some of you have seen it, but a few days ago some of the cast took a photo in the NYC train station! What a hoot that photo is! Pay attention to what Hugh Bonneville is doing hehe

Isn't this photo fantastic! So after we signed in, we sat in a section for the Facebook fans and watched 20 minutes of episode one of Season Three. It was fantastic of course! Then they all came out! It was like a dream!

But before I share more photos of the evening, let me share with you my ensemble. I wore a 1940's dress that was navy with pink and light green flowers-seems to be made of heavy cotton. I also paired it with a pair of 1940's clip on earrings (surprisingly didn't hurt my ear lobes lol), and three Moonglow bracelets. Simple but sweet I think. What do you think? Oh and the biggest deal of the night for me (that is before the cast came out!) was that my haircut really made a difference! I actually did a 1940's hairstyle on myself...me...I did...ahhhhhhhhhhh

And now for the drum roll please...here is some of the cast of Downton Abbey!

These photos were taken by a professional photographer named Meredith Nierman from PBC/Masterpiece Classics. Isn't the cast just amazing!!!

Huge Bonneville and Jim Carter are both sooo dashing and Mr. Carter really knows the ins and outs of the show. Very impressive!
Rob James-Collier has the most wicked sense of humor-I loved it! He was so animated and sooo funny! I believe he was sharing a story about Shirley MacLaine, how she came up to him and said, "you are horrible! what are your problems" Referring  to his character of course hehe

On the far left is a writer I believe (very intelligent man) and the far right was a producer (she was very witty and such a pro) Don't they look fab!! Ahhh and of course I have the only mad crush on the actor who plays Thomas, who also happens to be my favorite character on the show. He was soooooo charming and soooo funny. I know that he and Allen Leech (Tom Branson) are good friends-they both have killer senses of humors.

There was a Q & A session and people asked fantastic questions. I learned a great deal about the show. For example, 40% of the show is filmed in Highclere Castle, 40% in studio, and 20% on various other locations. Jim Carter (Mr. Carson) shared with us a tip-if you plan to visit that castle find out beforehand if the show is filming because if not they will not let you in to visit the grounds. I would love to see that castle in person, Hugh Bonneville (Lord Grantham) mentioned that it has thousands of acres of land! Can you imagine that??? DIVINE!

They were all so passionate about their work and you can tell that they all enjoyed one another's company. I have NEVER and I mean NEVER wanted to be an actress but for a moment there I wish I was so I could work with them and be on that fabulous show hehe After the Q & A, the representatives of PBS (loved this channel since I was four!) surprised us by giving us a "Free Bates" t-shirt and a book called The Chronicles of Downton Abbey, which is a stunning book! Ahhhh what an awesome surprise! I will not lie!

Before we left for home I took a moment to pose by the Christmas tree inside of the hotel-gorgeous isn't it???

And when we went outside we had one more big surprise waiting for us...Jim Carter (Mr. Carson) was outside briefly and he kindly took a photo with me. He was so lovely and super tall! Oh gosh, I love the cast and show even more now. It truly is a Masterpiece of a show!!

I hope you all watch Season Three here in the states and those of you who have already-shhhhh SPOILERS! Don't tell!!

  8. I couldn't possibly be any more jealous than I am right now!!! Wow!!!! I love Downton Abbey so much...though, I do feel it's gone a little bit down hill with the plot this season, but the last seasons were amazing!
I've heard great things about the cast, that they are genuinely nice people and it's so funny seeing Mr Carson looking so laid back and happy! I don't know how I'd feel about meeting the guy who plays Thomas, I get so involved when I watch the show and forget that they are just actors and not the characters they play :P

  12. Okay - I am very very jealous! How fabulous! It is so fun to see the cast out of character - but a bit odd too to see them all jazzed up and contemporary looking (esp. the wait staff). Congratulations! You looked fabulous as well :-).
