It's Time For Change

Some of you know, some of you don't that lately, more than ever, I have been under a great deal of stress, filled with anxiety and negative thinking. It is something I have fought daily not to do because I do believe in the power of positive thinking. I believe in the power of prayer. I believe that if you believe and envision something for yourself that it WILL happen.

But even though I am more of a optimist than a pessimist, the pressures and strains of lack of money and time has been getting to me. To the point where I was getting depressed and thinking very non-Bunny.

I don't want to spend my life stressing about money. I don't want to spend my days filled with dread, worry, and frustration. My husband is currently working two full time jobs, seven days a week. I didn't know that by becoming a stay at home mother I would be alone so much. I didn't know that I wouldn't have him by my side everyday to help me raise my children. It is what it is for now, but I am tired of feeling sad and angry about our situation. And honestly, I am beyond exhausted with feeling frustrated.

In the past two years I have had some health issues come up (which I believe is due to stress) and with that and the realization that I don't want to live my life always wanting, needing, and frustrated, I have decided I am ready for change. I want my life to be filled with more joy, more gratitude, more confidence, more prosperity, more opportunities, and more peace.

I always tell myself, "how are things going to get better"? I say that because I see the situation just going around us in circles. Well, my husband and I have gotten to the point that we don't want to live our lives this way. I don't want us to constantly battle all the negatives but rather celebrate all the positives.

How are we going to do that? We have been talking more about it and we put ourselves on the same page. Call it faith, the power of positive thinking, or whatever but we want our lives to change and we want too enjoy all the amazing things life has to offer and not sit around hoping for things to change. We are simply going to write it all down. Corny huh?

We each made a goal to write down what we want for ourselves. We are so accustomed to be thinking of others that it is not going to be easy to do but it is all about changing the way we think and feel. So I call it a "Vision Board". I saw it once on Oprah (my how I miss that show), and I always wanted to do one. I may just grab some of my children's construction paper but I am going to write down all the things I want for myself. Because I want to live my life fully and not live it always feeling half empty.

What will that board do for me? It will help me keep focused on the positive, keep me grateful for what I do have, and help me to keep envisioning what I want for myself. I have always believed that what you put out into the world you get back in return. Many religions believe in that-some call it Karma. But whatever you want to call it, I basically want to create new dreams and goals for myself and make them happen.

Sounds simple I know but just like praying, thinking and focusing on your goals needs to be ingrained into your life and your way of thinking and feeling. I normally wouldn't share something as private as this on my blog but the reason I am is because all those things you want for myself-I want for you also.

So, I challenge you to make a "Vision Board" or a goal list for yourself. I challenge you to change your life and make your life better than it is today because that is what I want for myself. I'm ready to change my life and make it more fulfilling not for others but for myself.

I didn't know that I was going to write this post today, I had another post in mind, but I will share that with you all later this week. I felt I needed to share this-I needed to do this for me.

Now what does this have to do with my musing and adventures of being a vintage pinup mama? For me it has everything to do with it. Some of my biggest goals has to do with vintage and with writing and who doesn't want to be a better mama? I know I always strive to be the best I can and embrace my imperfections all the while learning from my mistakes.

On that note, I will leave you with a promise that once I finish my "Vision Board" or perhaps booklet, that I will share some of it with you. My hope is to continue to inspire myself all the while inspiring you as well to have the best life you can have.

Lots of hugs-Bunny xox

Hair-Do's Reveal Love Life

I saw these photos on one of my favorite tumblr blogs (1940's Throwback) and I just had to share them with all of you! Imagine a time where how one wore their hair defined what was their love status (or lack thereof). How clever and utterly adorable!

I wish we had these subtle and sweet ways of doing things like that today. In our time woman are much more aggressive and well, many are the opposite of the definition of lady-like. But I digress....hehe...what do you think of women letting men know their love status by how they wore a bow in their hair??

Special Cinema Spotlight: W.E.

"W./E." (2011)

While my children were away at my dad's for the weekend I took the opportunity to watch a few films and catch up with other things. One of the films I watched was W./E. which was directed by Madonna. I will admit it to you all that I am not a huge fan of Madonna-I don't dislike her-I guess I am just indifferent. But I knew I had to give this film a chance because it was going to be about the imfamous love story between Wallis Simpson and King Edward VIII of England.

I must worn you I may give up some spoilers in this spotlight. I know I normally try not to but this time around I don't think I can help myself heheh You have been warned!

The Duke and Duchess of Windsor

At the very beginning of the film I was quickly confused and it took me a few moments to realize that scenes where going to be switched back and forth from the 1930's (mainly) to 1998. There are two stories happening at the same time basically, the story of Wally who was named after Wallis Simpson-who is incredibly lonely in her marriage and the story of Wallis who as we know was the twice divorced women who swept a King off his feet!

Once I got the grasp of what was going on I began to really feel for the character of Wally played beautifully by Abbie Cornish. She is this super lonely, incredibly attractive woman whose husband is too "busy" to spend time with her and is more interested in his work. She becomes suspicious of his fidelity which deepens her sadness and her loneliness even more.

I found the character of Wally appealing because she was in a state of being that many women can fall into. She left her job and doesn't have many friends or family so in many ways she is secluded from the world. She finds solace and joy in the love story of the Duke and Duchess. Their story is the only thing that makes her believe in "happily ever after", which by the end of film is tested and the truth is revealed to her. Does it make her keep believing in the power of love or does it forever damage her faith in it? That I won't tell you.

I can tell you that I totally related to her obsession with Wallis. I have never been obsessed with anything in particular but I can understand the joy of learning about the life of the person you admire. It's like that with those who are big fans of MM or Hayworth or Elvis. People who are big fans of someone else tend to connect with certain aspects of that person's life and that is what Wally did.

The Duke and Duchess of Windsor/Riseborough and D'Arcy in "W./E"

Andrea Riseborough plays Wallis and James D'Arcy plays Edward~both performed beautifully. I knew of the love story between them and his abdication of the throne but the little details about them I didn't know because I have yet to read a book about them which of course I really want to now. I love how Madonna intertwined actually events and the words written by both Wallis and Edward. It made the story so much more personal.

Cornish as Wally/Madonna with Riseborough and Cornish at a premiere of the film "W./E."

I must admit the middle of the beginning...like 35 minutes into the film...I felt it was dragging a bit but you need to stick with it. Many people only like the film because of all the pretty scenes from the 1930's but honestly this is a really well-written story. I enjoy films because of what they could possibly teach use or make us feel or inspire us. The pretty is great and your eyes will not be disappointed but the story especially the turns that it takes towards the end will make your heart burst.

While my heart was leaping for some of the other characters in the film, my heart was aching for Wallis. I didn't really know much of her side of the story and it was told so well by her own words. The King gave up a throne and in some ways his family and country but she gave up things as well. She was secluded from friends and family, from society, and in many ways she at times felt trapped. I mean they were both stuck in between a rock and a hard place because of the decisions they made. There was no going back for them and they both paid such a huge price.

My hope is that they were happy and comforted by one another's company. That at the end of their lives they both still loved one another and that they found peace in their decisions and in themselves.

So, was the love story between Wallis and Edward a happily ever after and does Wally ever find the love she so desperately believes she should have? I highly recommend this film-give it a chance and find out the answer! I am still thinking about this film and at the end I wanted to see more! Now that is the mark of a good story!!
