My Date with Frankenstein!

Yesterday I posted about the tickets I won and the hair tutorial I followed for my date with Frankenstein. The evening was wonderful but I think I may take a break from outings that are in the evening and mid-week. I just missed my children and it is such a sacrifice to get out. I will stick to weekend outings more so.

With that said, truly I saw Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein in the way it was intended-on the big screen! If you ever get a chance to see any classic film in a theater, I highly recommend that you try it out. So far I have seen these two films, West Side Story, It's a Wonderful Life, Casablanca, and The Birds and I have been awed and inspired by the experience of seeing them larger than life!

Goodness it was awesome! I will be spotlighting these films on another post but if you get the chance to see them on the small screen during this Halloween Season, check it out-they are an important part of the history of cinema as well as horror itself.

Boris Karloff as "The Frankenstein Monster"
Elsa Lanchester as "The Bride of Frankenstein"

My outfit for the evening was aimed at being a 1950's look but turned into a 1940's one due to my hair being uncooperative! Thanks again to my friend Sean for lending me her sweet dress---it is beautiful! I paired it with a cropped black cardigan I purchased in MO along with a black snood, red earrings, bracelets, and my vintage guitar brooch.

My hair came out curlier than it did for my 1950's hair trail  and I tried everything to tame I wrapped it up in my trusty snood. Lesson learned-must get more medium size rollers! Hehe

It felt great to get dressed up again! Getting out of mama clothes for the night can be a wonderful thing! How do you feel when you get dressed up? How often are you able to do it?

  1. Gorgeous outfit, Bunny! Red really looks like a million dollars on you.

We just got a new theater here in Penticton (to replace the older, smaller one that was here before), which is great in some ways (I'll miss the old one, I have a lot of memories there). I've been checking their upcoming listings, but they don't seem to be showing any classic Flicks for Halloween this year. No worries, there's always good ol' Netflix! :)

  3. I just love this combination on you Bunny. I think you should have more splashes of red in your dresses more often. This dress totally suits you. I think you should offer Sean a million dollars for it and keep it:))) Also, I love your red lipstick. I think this is also totally you. Fabulous outfit! Can't get away from toys in the backdrop:))) Just like at my house!!! I'll tell ya the kids take over!

  4. Bunny, you look SO beautiful in these photos!! :) I love your dress and your hair. So glamorous. Sigh.

I've seen these movies on the big screen! A couple years ago, Rian went back to school and got his second degree in film studies. A few of his classes met at an old theater downtown and on the days they watched films, he would sneak me in, lol. Omg Bunny, you would have LOVED taking these classes. Old horror movies, silent films, old Cary Grant romantic comedies, classics. All on the big screen!

  5. Ahhhh omg how lucky is he!!!! I have been searching for programs for film studies or film historian and I only find it in NYU and tuition there is INSANE! So I do the second best thing I can do and its watch, study, and read all about it. I really want to be a film historian one day! And thank you for the super sweet compliment! You are the best! xox

  6. Oh, what fun to see on the big screen. I am in such a remote area that never happens around here. One of these days, though, I am going to plan a trip around seeing a film on the big screen somewhere!

You look awesome, love these colors on you.
